Court proceedings regarding a request for international adoption

The Sofia City Court shall consider the request for adoption at a closed court session in a 14-day term from its receipt and shall pronounce a resolution, which shall be immediately announced to the parties.
The resolution shall be liable to appeal before the Sofia Appellate Court in a 7-day term from the notification of its enactment. In a 14-day term from the receipt of the complaint, the court, at a closed session, with the participation of a prosecutor, shall pronounce a resolution, which shall be final.
After the resolution has come into effect, “CHILDREN OF TIME” shall present documents in the Ministry of Justice regarding the issuance of a certificate according to Art. 23 of the Hague Convention for the protection of the children and cooperation in the sphere of international adoptions, in case the adoptive parents are citizens of a country that is party to the same convention, shall present a transcript of the resolution for the issuance of a new birth certificate of the child, shall present the documents for the issuance of an international passport of the child, shall translate and legalize the resolution, shall present all requisite documents in the respective embassy, shall organize the travel of the family to the home where the child is being raised, and back.
